a dream is just a wish your heart makes
...line from a current techno song.. i like it. and it's interesting evaluating my dreams... well, not the more bizarre ones... but the really vivid ones, the ones that i wake up from wondering if it really happened... to evaluate them in light of that quote. i dream about people a lot. especially people i really miss. or my first boyfreind.. with whom things are still undone. i've dreamed of seeing him again and making right everything that's wrong more times than i remember. hmm.. i think the only place i've specifically dreamed of being is the ship... not sure how many times. and most recently...i dreamed i woz friends with someone who (in the real world) i really do want to be friends with. yeah, i think the things i dream about are also the things i'm most caught up with during the day.

u know ur a world traveler when...
...u read an article on "the top five worst international airports" ( http://www.bcentral.com/articles/elliott/153.asp ) and u've been to 3 of the 5. and for the record, i really disagree with #5, cdg airport is really beautiful, and not only that, woz featured in a ...U2 video? i think. i forget.... altho. when i went thru there, my luggage ended up staying in france while i went to atlanta and back... hmm.
...
side note: i now have a computer of my own, altho i haven't fiddled around with it much yet... however, i'm hoping that i'll be blogging more often now. we'll see.

so... i survived the first week of school! yay! i'm finally doing school! i'm taking intro to mass media, math 84(algebra), and english 101. all my teachers are cool, expecially my math teacher, which is good, since that's the subject i'd be most likely to dislike... yeah, anyway, it's cool...
two weeks before school started, i wrote this in my journal:
"i think i'm kind of actually excited/happy that it's fall... i mean... i know eventually i'll wish for summer again, coz when it comes right down to it, it's my fave. but at the moment the autumn chill in the air is exhilarating... maybe it's it's becoz that briskness in the air always has made me think of going to college... and this time, i am. it's really happening."
i should mention to my devoted UK fans that my eng prof won lots of brownie points with me the other day.. i asked if she would consider woulds like "colour" or "favour" miss-spelled if i used the british spelling...and she won't! yay. however, i'm guessing if i spell 'was' as i usually do, she will consider it miss-spelled. which brings up the interesting subject of eubonics, and british eubonics at that. but it's late, so i won't go into it now.
in my media class, we have a group project to come up with a fake product and create the entire advertising campaign, complete with tv ads, billboards, catchy slogan, etc... of course i'm excited about it, becoz i LOVE adverts! they are so much fun... just to mention a few of my favourites:
ikea ads in general, but in particular the ones with "ingemar, from ikea, here with some simple swedish phrases to help u thru ur day!"
washington mutual ads. all of them. (it's bank from WA) you can visit their website, wamu.com, and watch their recent tv ads. i also am particularly fond of the billboard of theirs which says "Flesh eating zombies, bothersome. Our home loans, never."
the "happy cow" ad campaign is simply the best, i love it! too bad the radio spots aren't on the website, but some of the tv ads are... visit realcaliforniacheese.com to check them out. i particularly loved the scottish sheep (big supprise there) and the cows from wisconson.
also of note, the nextel radio spot. i like it becoz it uses the word "posterior" twice. hehe.
okay, i'll stop ranting on about advertising, and turn to conversation to movies... i saw "once upon a time in mexico" yesterday. a bit gory, more than i expected, but oh well.. johnny depp is in it! i must say tho, i much perfer his character in "Pirates of the Caribbean". wot a brill movie! and wot a brill actor.. i'm definately a devoted fan.

and to catch up, here are a few things that have happened, but i didn't have time to blog about them yet:
the nissan pickup truck i woz driving died... not to be confused with the VW bug which i own... the bug woz having brake issues for most of the summer, so the family i live with kindly let me borrow their 87 nissan pickup. and yes, it died, threw a rod right thru the block, on the freeway. luckily a nice highway patrolman stopped and asked if i woz okay, and gave me a ride to where i woz going... becoz that truck wozn't going anywhere. pooh. and i woz just beginning to get attached to it, too. i mean, it's nowhere as cute as my bug, but, well... it woz loveable in a way... i guess it woz kind of like a mullet! "business in the front, party in the back!" (i had a lot of fun sitting in the back with freinds, talking, or eating ice cream or wot have u) oh well. and it woz the 2nd time i've had a car completely die on me whilst driving on the freeway... at least this time wozn't 11pm at nite, in the bad part of town.
i luv MxPx!!!!!!!!!!!! i finally saw them in concert for the first time last week. yay!
and wot else? hmm... i think sometime in september i started being happy about being here, in seattle. actually liking it. it probably helped that this summer woz the nicest, and particularly the driest seattle summer i remember (i think i heard that the last one woz in 1950, so it would make sense that i don't remember.) i don't think it rained during the entire month of july, which is absolutely unheard of. and wonderful.
anyway, rain or no rain, i think i'd call this summer "the summer of tourism" for me. the summer of learning to see the familiar (read, 'boring') thru different eyes.
well. that's enough for now.
